Description

The Melita was built in 1888 and is one of the larger Victorian buildings in Stratford-upon-Avon. The property became a bed and breakfast in 1935 and has been welcoming visitors ever since.

Since its construction the property has undergone many alterations and changes and, in the 21 years they have lived here, Russell & Patricia have tried to restore the Victorian feel of the house whilst providing their guests with all the modern conveniences and creature comforts that today’s visitor has come to expect. They firmly believe that a clean room, a comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast are essential if valued guests are to return again and again.

The Melita has for several years enjoyed 4 star Guest Accommodation rating with the English Tourist Board.

Accommodation
The Melita has twelve bedrooms: ten ensuite and two with private facilities. All rooms are individually decorated and appointed ensuring that no two rooms are alike. Whilst making alterations every effort has been made to maintain and reintroduce the Victorian feel of this charming house. The Melita's accommodation has been constantly refurbished, and every effort has been made to achieve and maintain the highest standards of comfort and more importantly cleanliness. Most of our standard double bedded rooms, and all of our superior rooms are furnished with Emperor sized beds, 6' x 6'3". Superior rooms have DVD players, some have freeview

The centre piece of the Melita's pretty lounge is the beautiful Victorian rouge marble fireplace dating from 1887.
This cosy room is available 24 hours and is exclusively for the use of guests. It is a wonderful place to read, watch the television (freeview & dvd player are available), or simply chat with other guests about the days events. Glasses and corkscrews are available for guests who wish to bring their own drinks. In 2008 we refurbished our rear conservatory lounge where customers are also very welcome to sit, relax and admire the garden

Gardens
For over 25 years the Melita has won various Stratford upon Avon in bloom awards for its beautiful hanging baskets that decorate the front of the property. However, during the spring and summer months it is the rear garden that makes the Melita such a special place to stay. To relax in the afternoon and evening sunshine is an excellent way to unwind after a busy day sightseeing in Stratford.
