Henley-in-Arden is situated in the heart of the almost mythical Forest of Arden referred to by William Shakespeare in his play As You Like It. Some Shakespeare scholars content that he was actually referring to the Forest of Ardennes, in France. But as the area of Arden formed the hereditary lands of the family of his mother, Mary Arden, it seems likely that he said what he meant.

Henley is the home of the world famous Royal rowing regatta, but that is of course the other Henley, on-Thames rather than in-Arden.
Interestingly, there is a Henley-on-Todd regatta which is a dry sand river race held annually in Alice Springs and is, apparently, some kind of Australian joke.
Don Henley was a member of the well-known beat combo, The Eagles but is not known to have visited Henley-in-Arden.
Henley Management College is an internationally renowned business school but, again, located on-Thames rather than in-Arden.
William Henley was the real-life inspiration for the character of Long John Silver in Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island. Well, shiver my timbers.
