FEATURED RESTAURANT
This month's featured Restaurant in Southam is The Butcher's Arms, situated in the nearby village of Priors Hardwick. Originally dating from 1375, this restaurant attracts visitors from all over the world who come to savour the fine cuisine in beautiful surroundings. An open inglenook fireplace welcomes guests into the 14th Century bar. Flagstone floors and ancient oak beams enhance the historical atmosphere; a place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink and select from the menu in comfort.

The restaurant houses a collection of treasures including: prints and drawings from some of the world's finest automotive designers and stylists, a wine cellar and list to rival the top restaurants in the country, romantic little alcoves with many a successful proposal behind them and even an original cannonball from the English Civil War, found during renovation in the 1970's and believed to be from the Battle of Edgehill nearby.

There is a choice of A La Carte and Table D'Hote, as well as a special Sunday Luncheon menu. The menus are fairly traditional but with Portuguese overtones - Presunto de Chaves, Fillet Steak Piri Piri and Portuguese Style Spicy Chicken. There is an extensive choice of hot & cold starters; fish, meat and vegetarian main courses; freshly made desserts and local cheeses; and, to finish, coffee in the conservatory or on the flagstoned terrace (complete with gazebo) which overlooks the garden.
