Restaurants in Tanworth-in-Arden
Tanworth was the childhood home of folk musician Nick Drake, who is buried in the same churchyard as nine-times world motorcycle champion and F1 driver Mike Hailwood. The village was also the filming location for the fictional village of Kings Oak from the marvellously wobbly television series Crossroads. One of the stars of Crossroads was Nick Drake's sister, Gabrielle Drake, who also appeared in the classic science fiction series of the 1970's, UFO. The food connection is, of course, that she appeared in the Peter Sellars film There's a Girl in My Soup and also Au Pear Girls.

ORO (previously The Old Royal Oak)
Broad Lane, Wood End, Tanworth-in-Arden B94 5DP
Tel: 01564 742346
What was The Old Royal Oak has been recently renamed ORO and now seems to be a restaurant/organic foodstore/marketplace/wineshop. I hope the food isn't as pretentious and confusing as the website.... although to be fair, once you get the hang of it, it is quite fun (although the contact information is so small as to be virtually unreadable for us more senior folk). I hope that people are prepared to spend a minute or so working it out because the concept of ORO looks very interesting.
