Hotels in Coleshill

Coleshill has been around since the Iron Age and pre-dates the Roman Conquest of Britain in 43AD. During the Coaching Trade and the Turnpike Trusts, Coleshill became important as a major staging post on the coaching roads from London-Holyhead and London-Chester-Liverpool, and at one point there were over twenty coaching inns in the town. The Coleshill-Lichfield Turnpike dates from 1743. Many former coaching inns still remain, mostly along the High Street and Coventry Road.

In the Market Square are the preserved remains of the Pillory and Whipping Post that were used to punish the town drunks and bakers selling underweight loaves. They have been restored by three generations of the Gascoigne family who have run a local family business for over 100 years.

One of the main hotels in Coleshill is Grimstock Country House Hotel, which is situated in the nearby village of Gilson and is set in its own beautiful gardens.

Grimstock Country House Hotel offers quality accommodation as well as restaurant, conference, leisure and reception facilities. It offers the ideal retreat for the tourist, being within easy reach of Birmingham, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick Castle, and the Cotswolds.
Its close proximity to the M6, M42, National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham Airport, the International Convention Centre, Symphony Hall, Hams Hall and the Birmingham Business Park also make it the ideal choice for the discerning business traveller.
