The beautiful Regency town of Royal Leamington Spa is noted for its parks and gardens. Jephson Gardens, close to the Royal Pump Rooms and next to the River Leam, were given the “Best Park in Britain 2006” award by the Royal Horticultural Society. Directly across from the new temperate house, on the other bank of the River Leam, is a 19th century slipway which was specifically constructed so that circus elephants in winter quarters in Leamington could be watered. The central part of the town is the Parade, a street which hosts the Royal Priors shopping centre and a wide range of high street and designer shops. Park Street is known as the 'Bond Street' of Leamington for its designer-label and lifestyle shops.
