Eating Out in Warwickshire
Recommending restaurants is always risky - one diner's Michelin star experience might taste like another's Michelin tyre. Plus, I don't have a particularly sophisticated palette, and whilst in France have been known to skip the foi gras, oysters and truffles for a peperoni pizza.
So, any restaurants that may be highlighted will probably be as much about character, ambience and service as food (which is always a matter of taste:). Or they have been recognised as good by authorities far more authorative than I. Or I just like the sound of the name. But I may mention somewhere if I've enjoyed a meal there, either for the food or the setting... whether you agree with my opinion is another matter entirely.

A SHORT GUIDE TO RESTAURANTS IN WARWICKSHIRE BY CUISINE
American Diners Noo York Italian-American memorabilia or James Dean high school soda fountains | Bangladeshi Restaurants Forming over 80% of Indian restaurant dishes but rarely found under its own name | Bistros Casual eating in simple surroundings | Caribbean A huge range of influences and food fusions, with an overall feeling of creole | Chinese Restaurants | The ubiquitous Chinese restaurant, such a part of the food landscape of Britain for decades but still a little bit exotic | English Restaurants Still a way to go, but no longer the sad joke that it was 10 years ago | European Restaurants There are now 27 countries in the Union, so the menus must be getting awfully long | Fast Food Restaurants This is an inclusive guide, so it's on the list | Fish Restaurants Even if we are in the centre of England, surely it's not beyond the realms of modern transport to get fresh fish here within a couple of hours | French Restaurants From genuine French chefs to sanitised and pre-packaged Disney-France | Gastro-pubs Sometimes pretentious but there is no doubt they are one of the best things to happen on the English food scene for many years | Greek Restaurants Huge range of flavours and just good fun to eat | Indian Restaurants Which is more British Indian or Chinese? | Italian Restaurants Taste the sunshine | Malaysian Restaurants A sophisticated blend of Chinese and Indian. | Mediterranean Restaurants | One of the world's healthiest diets, low in saturated fats and high in red wine | Mexican Restaurants One of the great fun foods, which over here is likely to be the Tex-Mex variety rather than the really authentic stuff - but then I have no great desire to eat rattlesnake or spider monkey, | Middle Eastern Restaurants Like European food this tends to be focussed on one country's food rather than the many - often Lebanese | Modern Cuisine The focus of the modern movement on using good locally produced and sourced ingredients can only be a very good thing | Pizzerias As I may have mentioned before, I'll take a proper stone-baked peperoni pizza from an open-air wood oven over anything the French can do with offal. | Portuguese Portuguese restaurants are something of a rarity but good Portuguese food is really very good | Pubs with Food This is really pot luck and you could end up with anything from pretty boring to absolutely sublime | Spanish Restaurants Tapas are very trendy but originally they were always given away free with a drink in a bar - a custom that is unlikely to catch on here | Speciality Restaurants As this covers cuisine that is not easy to categorise, so I am not going to categorise it | Thai Restaurants These seem to be becoming much more popular, possibly as a result of the popularity of Thailand as a holiday destination | Traditional Restaurants Like pubs, something of a lottery with everything from steakhouses to award winning gourmet food | Turkish Restaurants Forget doner kebabs and try the dolma and baklava | Vegetarian Restaurants A much maligned cuisine but many cultures have vegetarian traditions and offer excellent vegetarian dishes, such as: Indian Gujarati (which is almost totally vegetarian), Spanish tumbet, Mexican quesadillas, Italian risottos, French ratatouille, Greek dolmas, Russina borcht, Middle Eastern falafels, many Chinese dishes, Japanese tempura, Thai pad kee maow, and Creole hush puppies. You may notice that Germany food has not been mentioned as a vegetarian option. The Germans have no word for 'vegetarian'. The nearest we have ever been to a vegetarian meal in Germany was a rather disdainful "well, this dish has only a got a little bit of meat in it".
